What to Declare
While en route to Fiji, every traveller will be given a passenger arrival card that must be
filled in before entering the country. This is a legal document.
False or incorrect declarations are in breach of the law and can result in a fine or
imprisonment.
The classifications of material to be declared are:
- Food
- Plant and plant products
- Live animals
- Animal products
- Salt and freshwater products and items associated with water
- Used equipment
- Soil or aggregates of all kinds
- Biological specimens of all kinds
Food
All food items brought into Fiji, even the smallest amounts and including ingredients for cooking, must be declared. Food items include:
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Meat
- Eggs
- Seafood
- Dairy products
- Dried mushrooms and fungi
- Seeds for human consumption and for processing into food
